Lower & Upper Extremities Venous Ultrasound
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein deep inside a muscle in your body. It usually happens in legs, but can also develop in your arms, chest, or other areas of your body. The blood clot can block your circulation or lodge in a blood vessel in your lungs, heart, or other area. Venous ultrasound is done to check for such condition and evaluate the functionality of the veins.

What Is The Procedure?
- Lower Extremity/Upper Extremity Venous:
- Testing for possible blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Blood clots are clumps that occur when blood hardens from a liquid to a solid. A blood clot can partly or completely block the flow of blood in a blood vessel. A blockage in the vein will usually cause fluid buildup and swelling.
- Determine the cause of leg or arm pain and swelling.
Who Is At Risk?

Individuals With
- High Blood Pressure
- Diabetes
- High Cholesterol
- Varicose Veins
- Smoker/History of Smoking
- Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Family history of stroke and heart disease
- Recent TIA or stroke
- History of blood clots

Individuals With The Following Symptoms
- Leg or arm pain
- Leg or arm swelling
- Leg or arm edema
- Leg or arm redness
- Other symptoms not listed above

How To Prepare
- Wear comfortable, loose –fitting clothes.
- No additional preparations required.
