Pelvic Male (Transabdominal)

A pelvic ultrasound provides pictures of the structures and organs in the lower abdomen and pelvis.
What is being visualized?
  1. Prostate
  2. Bladder
What Is The Procedure?
  1. Look for any increase in prostate size
  2. Look at the bladder to see if there are any abnormalities and if it is emptying completely

Who Is At Risk?

01.

Individuals With

  1. High Blood Pressure
  2. Diabetes
  3. High Cholesterol
  4. Smoker/History of Smoking
  5. History of enlargement of the prostate
  6. Family history of prostate cancer
02.

Individuals With The Following Symptoms

  1. Pelvic pain
  2. Changes in urinary function:
    • frequent urination
    • blood in urine
    • painful urination
  3. Other symptoms not listed above
03.

How To Prepare

  1. Eat normally
  2. One hour before the exam, drink 32 ounces of water
  3. Do not empty your bladder before exam
  4. Take all your regular medications with a small sip of water
  5. If you are diabetic, please take your insulin
